My dearest
readers,
first of
all it is my pleasure to wish you all a happy new year, on to the next one, for
it is time get things started! Today’s jump-start message comes straight from
the depths, from the abyss of a fortune cookie I received at a Vietnamese
restaurant. It stated: “Adventure is not outside; it is within.”
A new year
has begun, everyone got his or her resolutions set up and everyone is ready for
the new year, twenty fourteen. I hope you could all drag the momentum, the passion,
and the perseverance from last year into this one to ultimately commence your
new adventure. Get started, go hard, and make this adventure another special
one for yourself. When you look back to 2013, though, let not past
accomplishments discourage you, let them inspire you, inspire you to jump-start
the current year, a journey to the unknown, to new heights, to new
accomplishments. When you retrospect, let the past year fuel and encourage you,
be inspired to keep up the effort, to go hard like you would always do, because
a year, is it not only a temporal boundary, a perimeter to confine a specific
time period?
If your
heart is ambitious and confident, if your mind is set on ‘polish and shine’ and
ready to get things going, the new year is
merely a temporal boundary that wears 2014 on its jersey; but that does not
affect an ambitious heart and a perseverant mind. If you dive into this ‘new’
adventure every day, all day, and if you’re willing to keep your focus, then
you not only have an invincible spirit but further you have no need for new
year resolutions, because you’re on it anyways, striving for more, turning this
new year into a great challenge to yourself to keep it rolling, no matter what
day or week or month or year it is. Then you are ambitious and have already
jump-started your year.
If you are
starting all over this year, start good and true, be honest to yourself and look
at your capabilities, your expertise, talents and get your things together, and
get eventually on the road, because the time to do so is now! Go hard today,
live today, and determine your tomorrow, for it is all in your hands. It is in
your hands to decide, where your life is going, and furthermore, how far you
can carry it.
When I was
asked about my new year resolutions I didn’t, at first, know what to say,
because I had not made my mind up yet, but one thing I can certainly say: that
setting goals and having my mind on achieving them, that going hard with heart
every day-all day, that approaching any challenge with passion and riding along
in perseverance, that going the extra mile, that having my mind on my dreams
and my hand on the game, all these traits that have carried me (and that I have
carried) through this past year are not resolutions I have for this year, or
for any year; these are terms, concepts, and ultimately just traits that
characterize me without-within, those are strengths that define me, labels that
depict me, words to describe me, because all of the above is who I am; and
being relentless?...is a state I’m in; and making my dreams come true?...that
is what I do! And I do it every day, and all day, and every week, and every
month, and every year…
Jump-start?
or living this life? In the end it is up to you—as it was up to
me. Getting my year started? Not at all, for it is already on and I’m already
in!
And if you
are ambitious, after all, this new year, this new adventure has already begun,
begun, as the cookie stated: within. Get it going, polish…and shine!
